Another seasonal flu vaccination campaign is about to begin in the West Island.
Montreal West Island health network’s (CIUSSS) announced its 2019 campaign to offer flu vaccination to citizens at nine locations from Nov. 5 to Dec. 14.
Those at risk can go to a vaccine clinic in the West Island and Dorval-Lachine-LaSalle with a health insurance card to be vaccinated free of charge,
“Every year, flu season comes along and its complications leave many vulnerable people at risk of hospitalization. Vaccination remains your best protection against the flu,” CIUSSS said in a statement.
The health network also noted the vaccine is free and “strongly recommended” for:
- anyone over the age of six months with a chronic condition such as diabetes, immune conditions, cardiovascular, respiratory, or renal illness (including pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy);
- healthy pregnant women in their second or third trimester;
- people aged 75 years and over;
- informal caregivers and those living with people at risk;
- people living with babies aged 6 months and under.
- healthcare workers.
The vaccine is also free for persons in the following age groups:
- children aged 6 to 23 months
- adults aged 60 years and older

All vaccination clinics are open Tuesday to Friday, from 12:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Thanks to generous collaboration from the municipalities and boroughs, the vaccination campaign enjoys excellent visibility,” CIUSS said. “Over the course of the 2018–2019 campaign, we noticed a 14 per cent increase in the vaccination rate compared to the preceding year.”
