One teenager was in custody and several other suspects being sought Thursday morning after a mini-crime wave in Sherbrooke that saw a series of thefts from inside vehicles followed by frauds committed in local stores.
Local police have confirmed that at least five thefts were committed and that dozens of other attempts were made on vehicles across the city.
Most of the successful thefts saw bank cards taken from wallets left inside the vehicles and then used to purchase pre-paid credit cards, which were used in turn to purchase goods.
The thieves also stole one vehicle.
Police received a complaint Wednesday night from a victim whose car had been broken into; other complaints were made in the following hours.
